month before this tragic incident occurred. it was signed my the president of the los angeles peace officer association and the president of the port authority association. in a response dated october 12, 2012 john pistole agreed both merited further discussion. i request the committee include the airport police officer letter and ad ministration john pistole letter. the fix post method requires a police station to be stationed at the passenger screening checkpoint. the flexible response method allows the police to roam the surrounding area but they are recognize to respond to a problem within a specified program. the letter explained it is impossible for a police officer to respond to a problem with the officer is responding for patrolling an entire terminal. the letter recommends this be a standard for all major airports and would require an officer within 300 feet. lax police officers did provide fix post and roaming police officers at the time the letter was written. and last april, six months after john pistole agreed to discuss the issue, a discussion was made to wave the fixe

, friday's shooting at terminal 3 at the los angeles international airport where a gunman approached a checkpoint, pulled a .233 caliber assault rifle from a bag and opened fire, targeting tsa agents, injuring several people and taking the life of a tsa officer named gerardo hernandez, the first tsa officer to die in the line of duty since the agency was created in 2001. the suspected shooter, 23-year-old paul anthony ciancia, was charged this weekend with murder of a federal officer, and commission of violence at an international airport. after being shot at the scene of the crime, he remains in critical condition but is not believed to have suffered brain damage, allowing for the possibility he might be able to answer questions at some point. and while the entirety of his motive is yet to be known, he did have on him at the time a letter. which had language associated with the anti-government patriot movement, as well as some additional anti-government literature about a conspiracy to form a single global government. and for more, i'm joined by brand-new grio.com columnist, goldie

aboard air force one in california. the president is moving from san francisco to los angeles later today, but en route to san francisco, josh earnest telling reporters that that site will be ready. he said it will be ready for the vast majority of users on november 30th. that they feel like at this point, they're going to hit that target date and he said that because for a couple of things. they feel like they have gotten the error rate down, that they have also gotten more capacity. they believe that 50,000 concurrent users can use healthcare.gov as we speak right now, and they feel like that will be the case on november 30th. i did talk to a senior administration official about all of this who cautions that once again, this website will not be perfect. will not be perfect on november 30th, but they do feel like it will be ready for the vast majority of users. that's been the metric they've been using for the last several years, the vast majority of users on the website will be able to sign up and get health insurance. of course, all of this is coming at hopefully at least in the eyes o

of the nation's top hospitals, including the mayo clinic in minnesota, cedar sinai in los angeles, and children's hospitals in seattle, houston, st. louis are cut out of most plans sold on the exchange. in most cases the decision was about the cost of care. here's how obamacare is hurting one family. in seattle, the region's predominant insurer, premiere blue cross, decided not to include the children's hospital as an in network provider, except in cases where the service sought cannot be obtained anywhere else. children's nonunique services were too expensive given the goal of providing affordable coverage for consumers. the spokesman said in an email. which brings up the point, the president wants to provide everybody health insurance, and some of us, like me, were more concerned with getting them quality health care that was affordable. all this talk about insurance, insurance, insurance. the bigger more important question should have been can we get them health care they can afford? one of the biggest promises was, it will lower most everybody's cost. it turns out that was not true at all.
